JOSE VS SEAN.
I would like to use this time to explain the mechanics while you watch this intense video of the games first possible fight.
Fight - Opens the attack selection menu
Items - Opens the item menu.
Defend - Not as obvious as the others. Allows you to defend that turn instead of making an attack. (reduces the damage of the incoming attack)
Robopon - This is where you switch out your Robopon that is currently battling.
Escape - Used to run away from "wild encounters". No use in a trainer battle.
Evade - You dodge the next attack by the other Robopon. (Possibly might fail? I don't know, because this and Defend are pretty worthless in my opinion)
Key Terms
EP - Energy Points are consumed by attacks, the more powerful the attack the more EP that is used up. Can be restored by mechanics and items or just simply leveling up.
EB - Energy Balls are essentially like EXP but only for evolution of the Robopon. In the status screen, it shows you how many more EB's are needed for evolution. Then which you take the robopon to the closest lab.
Special Attacks - Robopon does this fairly differently then Pokemon does. They are less permanent changes to the 'Pon and can be altered at anytime not in battle. Robopon have RAM slots that increase as they get stronger and evolve. Software which is like TMs(Technical Machines) in Pokemon are placed in the slots. Unlike TMs they are not moves directly but Attributes (ex. FIRE, WATER, LAND) and upon combinations of different Software, your Robopon gains new attacks in battle. This is probably one of my favorite things about Robopon's mechanics.
There are many different attributes of Robopon, so lets take a look at a Battle Chart. Made by the probably lovely Chris Marsh of Gamefaqs.
List of Attributes
NORMAL
FIRE
WATER
WIND
EARTH
THUNDER
HOLY
EVIL
GROUND
SEA
SKY
Next time we will be heading to Doctor Disc's lab and getting our second Robopon, who is a fire pig with a cape (oh boy~) then on our way to Tail Castle for some badass upgrading to Sunny.
